Wild Oak Landscape Design
Site Consultation
Before any design work begins, I always start with a site consultation. It’s a chance for us to walk through your property together, talk about your goals and ideas, and get a feel for how you’d like to use your outdoor space. Every site is different.. just like every client - so this first step helps lay the groundwork for a design that’s genuinely tailored to you.

Some clients come to me with a very clear vision in mind, while others are still figuring out what they want. That’s completely fine. A site consultation is your time to ask questions, share inspiration, and have a relaxed but productive chat about the possibilities. I’ll bring my landscape architecture background and practical experience to the table, offering insight into what will work best for your space - not just in terms of aesthetics, but also function, flow, climate, and council regulations.

Sometimes, a client just needs validation or another brain to bounce ideas off, which is really common. In those cases, a landscape consultation on its own might be all that’s needed. We’ll walk the site, talk through your ideas, and I’ll give you honest feedback, practical suggestions, and a fresh perspective on how to bring it all together. There’s no pressure to go further if a design plan isn’t necessary.

That said, there are huge benefits to taking the next step and having a landscape design drawn up. A design helps bring clarity to your ideas, aligns everyone involved in the project, and gives you a tangible plan to work from - whether you’re DIY-ing the garden over time or working with contractors. It ensures everything is thought through properly from the start: where the paths go, how the levels work, what gets the most sun, and how to make the most of your budget. It’s also invaluable when it comes to getting accurate quotes from tradies and avoiding costly surprises down the track.

During the consultation, I’ll assess the site’s existing conditions - including soil, drainage, sun, shelter, and access - and talk to you about what’s working and what’s not. I’ll also get a feel for your personal style, the way your household uses the space, and what kind of maintenance you’re happy to take on. All of these things feed into the design process, if that’s the direction you’d like to go.

In the end, whether we stop at a consultation or go on to develop a full concept plan, my goal is to help you feel confident and inspired about your outdoor space. I want you to leave our meeting with more clarity than you arrived with and a clear sense of the next step.
